Seasons Greetings and best wishes for A Very Merry Christmas & A Happy and Prosperous New Year 2026 to all. As we settle into the winter season there is hope for a brighter but colder future as the daylight starts to increase after the Winter Solstice.

I am also writing to share a bittersweet but important announcement with you. After almost 40 years of serving this wonderful community in and around Mississauga I have decided to hang up my stethoscope and put away the scalpel. I will be retiring from veterinary medicine and will be closing my practice, Creditview Animal & Bird Hospital, in three months, on Friday March 13, 2026.

This decision comes with mixed emotions. Caring for your pets and being a part of their health and happiness has been a privilege, and I am deeply grateful for the trust and loyalty you have shown to me and my staff over the years. It has been an honor to be part of your pets' lives, and I will always cherish the relationships we have built.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Last Day of Service: Our final day of operation will be Friday, March 13, 2026. We will continue to see patients and provide care, including grooming until that time. If your pet is due for annual services in the spring time, you may want to check with John for appointment availability in late February or early March.

2. Referral for Ongoing Care: I understand the importance of ensuring your pets continue to receive the best care. Unfortunately by referring you to another colleague, I am taking the responsibility for their quality of care which I am reluctant to do. However, there are many hospitals in Mississauga for you to choose from for dogs and cats. Unfortunately, the local options for birds, pocket pets and exotics are limited.  We are currently referring our avian and small mammal clients to BurlOak Animal Hospital.

3. Medical Records: If you need a copy of your pet’s medical records, please contact us to make arrangements for transfer. We are happy to provide them to you or email them to your new veterinary clinic. Please let John know where to send them. There may be a fee for printing a hard copy.

4. Prescriptions and Webstore orders: If your pet is on any chronic medications or prescription food, please reach out well before the closing date to ensure that we can process any refills or prescriptions for you in time. Webstore clients will need to transfer their ordering to a practice that has webstore access to continue uninterrupted service.

5. Appointments: If you have an upcoming appointment scheduled, please rest assured that it will be honored. If you need to schedule any follow-up appointments before the closing date, John is available to assist you.

6. Grooming: Jason will continue to groom for us until we close mid-March. After that, he has kindly offered to continue grooming for our clients at The Modern Dog at 1224 Dundas St. E.

I am incredibly proud of the care and compassion that our team has always strived to provide, and I want to reassure you that we will continue to serve you and your pets with the same commitment in the final months of operation. It has been a true pleasure to care for your pets, and I want to thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your lives. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance during this transition, please don’t hesitate to call (John at 905-567-8387) or email (cabh.staff@gmail.com) at the hospital or reach out to me directly (416-802-9397 also on WhatsApp) or by email (saldanha@567VETS.com).

As many of you know, I will not be resting on my laurels as I retreat from active practice but will be working to ramp up a community service retirement project that has been in operation for a few years. You can learn more about it at https://CWAMississauga.ca. We currently have two trishaws and my charity is actively fund raising to bring the first wheelchair capable trishaw to Mississauga. https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/wheelchair-trishaw can issue you a tax receipt just in time for the end of this fiscal year.

As I work towards shrinking my footprint, many of my general interest books, instruments tools, shelving and other equipment is up for adoption. If you are a bibliophile or have a need for pet supplies, cages or furnishing, please stop by anytime to rummage through our offerings. In exchange, we welcome and appreciate tax-deductable donations at https://CWAMississauga.ca/donate

Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition. I wish you and your family all the best in the future. We hope to see you one last time before we close.

Warmest regards,

Dr. Kevin Saldanha, family and staff.
